Public School Outreach

Our mission is to serve the students and teachers of Pedro C. Timothee Escuela in the name of Jesus by providing educational opportunities and resources to improve their futures.

The involvement of Trinity Church at Pedro C. Timothee Escuela began after Hurricane Maria when the church helped with crucial building repairs.  In the fall of 2018 volunteer teachers began working alongside the school’s English Teachers with the goal of improving English competency.  Volunteers and church staff have formed flourishing relationships with the school administration and students, leading to a more robust program and increased involvement.  Educational and safety resources are provided to the library, teachers, and nurse. Our church also assists with crucial repairs and facility improvements.  We walk beside and encourage the school to remedy issues on their own while providing relief, mercy and understanding of the difficult system they navigate.

We thank God for giving us the opportunity to take part in this work. God does not need us to help, but He knows what it does for our souls.  You see, when we give to our neighbors we get just as much back in return.  Serving each other is what we were made to do.      

volunteer teachers program

The Timothee School Volunteer Teacher program is designed to provide an opportunity for students to converse with native English speakers.  Volunteers work alongside a Timothee English teacher.  Volunteers teach the same one-hour class every week in order to build relationships with the students and teachers.  As relationships are built, the students feel more comfortable practicing their skills and are eager to learn more English.

library helpers program

Most of the school does not have air conditioning.  Oftentimes students spend the majority of their day in hot, sticky classrooms with little airflow.  During lunchtime students playing outside get even hotter and go to the air conditioned library to cool off.  The library can have 40-50 children coming and going during the lunch hour. Our Library Helpers assist the Librarian manage the flow of students each day during this busy time.  Helpers commit to the same day each week.
