Disaster Relief Ministry

Hurricane Fiona

Hurricane Fiona, the first storm of the 2022 Atlantic hurricane season to inflict significant damage on populated areas, made landfall in Puerto Rico on Sunday, September 19. Although uncertainty over the storm’s full impact will last for days, if not weeks, officials anticipate extensive damage. Trinity has sent our disaster relief team member down to various areas of the island to assess damages and partner with trusted, known local churches and organizations to provide immediate relief and help to rebuild. Please consider donating to these ongoing relief efforts.

How we’ve helped so far…

• Storing temperature sensitive medicines for those without power
• Providing access to power for breathing treatments and other at-home medical treatments
• Providing hot and healthy meals through a partner ministry.

EarthQuakes 2020

More than 600 building were damaged after the Jan. 7 quake including homes, a church and other buildings that were destroyed. Trinity sent multiple teams down to assess damages and partner with local churches and organizations to provide immediate relief and help to rebuild. We delivered essentials like camping tents, air mattresses, flashlights, batteries, and food. We were able to partner with Hunger Corp. to outfit mobile centers for hygiene and laundry. These refurbished containers are valuable resource for crisis response for years to come!

Hurricane Maria

On September 20, 2017 Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico causing widespread devastation and loss. As in all tragedies, the people of God have a unique opportunity—and even responsibility—to enter into the pain and the needs of our neighbors. In partnership with our sister-church, Iglesia La Travesía, Trinity Church adopted a community in Dorado, Puerto Rico that was particularly hard hit by the storm. We helped build six new homes. When we started in La Hormiga, 3% of residents had titles to their homes, now 50% have titles! Additionally, 70% of community members have started paying their own utilities.
